Book #1: Babushka's Doll by Patricia Polacco
This is the story of a little girl who is very demanding and high-maintenance. I don't know any little girls like this. (Looking around sheepishly.) Her very patient grandmother (Babushka) explains to her that she sometimes has to wait for things she wants. The grandmother has a doll that the little girl wants to play with. Babushka lets her and explains that she only played with her once when she was a little girl. The little girl quickly discovers why.
Mom's Review:
Cute story with an excellent point. Colorful pictures. Bonus: saying the word "babushka" is fun.
Daughter's Review: It was pretty neat. It freaked me out when the doll came alive.
